3am Drift

In 2001, guitarist Ryan La Motte and vocalist Brandon Eastlack formed the alternative/acoustic band 3am Drift. Composing their own music and lyrics, their unique sound is a mixture of Brandon’s pure and earnest vocals, Ryan’s mesmorizing guitar, and Mike Start's phenomenal drums. Currently, 3am Drift is releasing their debut album "A Prelude". A bit about Brandon, Ryan, and Mike: Brandon is 22 years old, Ryan is 21, and Mike is 18. Brandon and Ryan have been friends for over a decade, and just recently added Mike to the band . They all grew up in Southern Arizona, where 3am Drift is still based out of today.

Affirming the Consequent

The current incarnation of Affirming the Consequent formed in March of 2006 in Tucson, Arizona. Quickly gaining the title of "Tucson's only gothic jam band", ATC derives its free-form melodic darkness from such bands as Pearl Jam, Tool, and Jane's Addiction.

The band formed when the current members either quit or were ejected from previous projects. Converging together with the concept of not fettering themselves with preconceived notions of musical styles, ATC has blossomed into a band that has appealed to all audiences, having successfully played with jazz, rock, hardcore, and grindcore bands.

The presentation of honest, intense vocals paired with ethereal guitars has allowed Affirming the Consequent to connect with audience members and garner not only appreciation for their entertaining performances, but also respect for their artistic endeavors.

Aimless

As music grows in genre, the lines of difference of sound have faded to create a disastrous blur of identical music. AIMLESS has dug deep into the roots of what began this great aspect of life we call Rock and Roll, then put a modern and energetic spin on the issues of life and growing up with an unfamiliar rhyme scheme. AIMLESS works to make their fans feel comfort in the songs they write about not fitting in or being dealt a bad hand in life. Writing music about previous events that took place in their own lives inspired the music they sing. It served as some kind of therapy to heal open wounds in their own lives and in the process, it developed an irreplaceable chemistry.

Derek Powell (vocals and guitar), The founder of the band was in a previous band called AIMLESS with Grant Gardner(vocals and bass) but the project eventually split due to a disagreement to future plans. He did not give up playing and eventually met Myles (vocals and lead guitar) who moved down to Tempe, Arizona from Colorado to play in a band called Acoma Red. Derek was asked to join Acoma Red as a rhythm guitarist but the venture soon faded out and lead Derek and Myles paths to cross each others. Derek and Myles experimented for months with genres of music including a regretful acoustic jazz project, but both soon got sick of experimentation and wanted to get back to having fun with what they did best, rock and roll. Soon after the decision was made for the direction of the band, the call was made to former drummer of Elyason Drew Newburg and ex AIMLESS bassist Grant to fill the opening spots of what would soon to be a masterpiece. They kept the name AIMLESS because it stood for something more to them. AIMLESS stands for what they had felt of rejection with friends, women, and bands. It reminded them to keep passionately doing what they love even though the odds can vary from day to day. Listening to AIMLESS puts melody to the adventure of this life.

Antedote

Antedote the Neato Project was formed in the beginning of 2003 as a remedy to the music dying before them.

Comprised of seven schooled musicians, their music is an organic blend of jazz, hip-hop and experimental drumnbass. Hard hitting but completely relaxed, Antedote pounds tough issues over soothing rhythms. Their topics range from braggadocios poetry in Jazz Aint Dead to social awareness with Fly Joints and Antedote. Hailing from Phoenix, AZ Antedote has made some serious noise in the underground with their word of mouth must see live show.

The experience is unique with each member pushing the boundaries of hip-hop. Currently Antedote is in the final stages of recording Vol. 2 with a release in Spring 2007.

Antique Scream

To see power trio Antique Scream on stage inevitably recalls images of Nirvana, with singer/guitarist/bassist Chris Rutledge shredding away passionately at his guitar, face always half obscured by a mop of blond hair, chin always covered in beard stubble. Back From Ashes

Back From Ashes is a progressive metal band forged in the Valley of the Sun, Phoenix, AZ. Over the past 10 years, the band's members worked on separate projects, and it wasn't until 2004 that everything fell into place. It started with Mike and Jason, guitarist and songwriter. Through a number of grueling auditions they finally found Dave on the drums, and John on bass. It was then they realized they had found something special. The music they created is both raw and powerful, with jaw-dropping drums, hard-edged guitar riffs, and ferocious vocals delivering lyrics that reach out to the audience, grab it by the throat, and obliterate conscious thought. Broken Poets

Broken Poets songwriter, singer and guitarist Tim McDonald has always had an innate sensibility for creating strong melodies and verses. But it’s his gift for poetically expressing an almost transcendent philosophical insight that sets his songwriting apart from others. As one reviewer put it, his music is "Soulful poetry turned into song, rock & roll, and introspection all in one." McDonald is not just writing from the heart, but is consistently tapping into some mysterious source of inspiration.

In 2000 McDonald was touring solo and needed someone to accompany him for a performance at The Gaslight (Bob Dylan’s old haunt in NYC). A referral from a friend led him to classically trained Russian pianist and vocalist Svetlana Antropova. This meeting inspired the creation of Broken Poets. Off the success of their duo performance, McDonald sought out studio bassist Michael James and session drummer Russ Phaneuf to complete the band’s lineup. Together they have created an alternative rock band sound that is modern and relevant, yet still acknowledges the importance of the standards set by great songwriting bands of that past.

(brief history) We're all long time friends that grew up together. Some of us were chilling as far back as elementary school, others since the baseball middle school years, and we all did the high school years together. In the mix of all that a few bands were formed here & there, some in different cities, with different people- it was all in the air. Then in august 2007, the 5 members joined forces in Flagstaff, Arizona. Bringing together a blender of tracks & musical talents in smorgasbord form, to what would be the foundation of "brothers gow" music. Our back-rounds in music growing up ranged from funk, hip-hop culture, like DJing & break-dancing, to reggae, jam bands and even ambient sounds..Today, Brothers Gow is growing & cant thank the supporters enough! Deadmans Gambit

Formed 1 short year ago; Deadman's Gambit is a combination of Phoenix's local band scene with an average of 15 years musical experience. They have a sound of their own, one that cannot be truly labeled. Melodic vocals combined with an added edgy flair, you could say they sound like Alice in Chains meets Pantera. They have played venues from Phoenix to Flagstaff and are looking ahead to traveling outside of Arizona with their unique sound. Denial Method

After a series of different projects Kent, Curt, and Shelly decided to look for a new sound in July of 2005. After holding several auditions for a lead vocalist, the band was growing weary. At that time, Matt Schultz responded to the band's add on a website. Matt, from Rhode Island, brought a unique sound in, and it clicked immediately. The members decided that, in order to deepen their sound, they needed to bring in an additional guitarist. They placed a call to Rob (former lead vocalist of Obsidian and Face at the End). The five members put together 3 songs in one session, and knew they had their line-up. Now, Denial Method is looking forward to bringing their heavy rock/alternative style to the music scene for many years to come.

Digital Summer

Digital Summer is a heavy/melodic rock group from Glendale, Arizona. Digital Summer consists of five members; Kyle Winterstein (24), John “Fish” Cenfield (26), Ian Winterstein (21), Anthony “Guido” Hernandez (20), and Chris “Cooter” Carlson (19). Together, for only a year, Digital Summer has managed to gather one of the largest local followings in Arizona, with a consistent draw of over 500. DS has managed to pass out over 35,000 copies of their 3 song EP, released in January ’06, to create a sound in the local scene that has long been awaited.

Digital Summer is made up of 5 hard working individuals ranging from ages 19 to 26. Kyle, lead vocals for Digital Summer, is a full-time firefighter for the city of Avondale. Originating as the lead singer/guitarist for former band Shaded Grey, which at their time, made a huge impact on the Arizona local scene, as well as playing a few national gigs with Dope, Six (1605), Bionic Jive (Interscope), Trik Turner (RCA), and Dislocated Styles (Roadrunner) to name a few. Along with Kyle, Johnmark Cenfield, also known as “Fish”, lead guitar for Digital Summer, who works as a full time math teacher at a school for “at risk” kids, also came from Shaded Grey. Shaded Grey managed to stir up the local scene in Arizona for a few years, before breaking up in late 2003, due to changes in the music scene and personal interests. Kyle, took a break from the music scene to pursue his firefighting career, and Fish remained in the scene, playing with a few mildly successful bands, sharing the stage with bands such as AFI (Interscope, DreamWorks, Nitro, Adeline) Skin Lab (Century Media), Pissing Razors (Spit Fire) , Violence, Insolence, along with a handful more.

Not to long after Shaded Greys’ inception into the scene, Ian, Guido, and Cooter started a band, called A Different Level. Ian, rhythm guitar for Digital Summer, works as a full time EMT for an ambulance company in Arizona. “Guido, works as a server at a local restaurant in Peoria, and just recently completed his EMT course. Cooter, fortunately doesn’t have to work, and spends most of his free time promoting Digital Summer. A Different Level, commonly referred to as ADL, played in the Arizona scene for just under 3 years, creating a name for themselves as the “brother” band of Shaded Grey. After the break of ADL in 2004 Ian, Guido, and Cooter continued working separately on material for possible future projects.

In September, 2005 Digital Summer was formed. Kyle began putting the project together by recruiting Ian, Guido and Cooter from former band ADL. Shortly thereafter Fish joined the band. DS spent a few months writing before going into Mind’s Eye Digital Recording Studio in December, 2005 to record their 3 song EP with Larry Elyea. Soon after recording the EP they gathered sponsors including Kronik Energy Drink, Double Down Clothing, and Halo piercing to help fund the release. They had their debut/ EP release show on January 21st, at Alice Cooperstown in Phoenix, where they headlined to a crowd of well over 800 people. A pattern soon developed with every show of a dramatically increased draw and even greater crowd reaction.

Friday Night Gunfight

Brought together around a cultivated message of bringing back the old school rock and roll, Friday Night Gunfight, one of Arizona’s most promising bands, has taken the music scene by storm. Their old school 80’s rock mentality influenced by the likes of Posion, Guns & Roses and Motely Crue, really takes a fresh new look on the music they play. Recently, coming off a recording of their latest album Always A Moment Away, Friday Nigh Gunfight wants to show Arizona that they’re music is a never ending rock party.

All friends from the beginning of their music career, the band members, Matt (bass), John (drums), Mike (lead guitarist) and Bradlee (guitarist), all came together to form a true rock group influenced by the eighties Sunset Blvd mentality. Only missing a lead singer, Brad was brought aboard, and it was with this charismatic powerful lead singer that Friday Night Gunfight was formed. “I was in a few bands before FNGF, but my heart was never really in it, however now I feel that everyone really loves the music that we are putting out and I’m very happy,” says Brad.

“We are a band that is all about having fun. We love big guitars and big drums and a big sound.” says lead singer Brad. The group definitely holds true to their rock and roll lifestyle message. Their audience really follows the band and feels like they are apart of the party at the show.

The bands rise to success has really been an overnight success story. With the release of their EP and hard working mentality, FNGF has risen from the opener slot to the headliners position in no time. They attain that success to playing with bands that are outside of their genre, saying that it influences them and keep them on their feet, plus it brings in a more diverse crowd. “We also like playing with a diverse group of bands,” says Brad, “every time we play it seems that we play with three separate scenes (music scenes) of bands, and everyone is out there for a common goal.” And that common goal is reaching out to Arizona music scene and making it one rather than many.

After the success of their EP, releasing songs such as “Lost”, “Just a Dream,” and “My Fire,” Friday Night Gunfight has amassed a very large following of fellow bar rats going from show to show checking out their intense aura on stage and powerfully inspirational lyrics. Also, with seeing the groups of fans multiplying they decided to put out a full-length album that they can really sink their teeth into. The band has decided to seclude themselves into the Blue Light Media (Cory Spots) recording studio and come out with something that their fans havnt heard before. After many days Friday Night Gunfight will release their latest album, Always A Moment Away, to the public April 2008.

“We are really excited about the album. It’s filled with new songs that you can rock out to and really show our fans what FNGF is all about,” says Brad, “However if you really want the true effect you should really come out to a show.” A Friday Night Gunfight show, is all the best parts of a club atmosphere rolled up into a rock show. The atmosphere is intense, raw and loud. When the band isn’t on the stage tearing up the stage is off aside the bar partying it up with their fans. Friday Night Gunfight really brings a fresh new look to glam rock, with the bands sense of high volume rock and fashion, which is bound to catch the eye of record labels from all around. With their all out mentality of rock and roll this band is ready to take off to the next level. Lead singer Brad says, “So many great things coming out for the band. The things you hear on the album will be great to see on stage. You can expect us to be here for a long-long time. “

Haley Jane

Haley Jane was founded by singer/songwriter Toby Slade in 2001. Since its inception, the band has evolved through various line-ups, each leaving behind their unique sonic footprint. The constant is Slade's thoughtful lyrics and commanding vocals. Haley Jane's current line-up includes; Darren Santos, contributing tight, weaving bass lines and pop-sensible harmonies along side stellar keyboardist Paul Tiller who has a thing for little melodies. Drummer Chris Coppus, a recent addition, provides the back bone. The songs often find themselves rooted in the styles found roaming around their hometown of Tucson, Arizona. Borrowing from country, rock, folk and pop, these boys bring their noise in fits of passion, bouncing back and forth between heartfelt poetics and pulse-thumping rock! 2005 saw the release of their debut album "Modern Entertainment." Well received by fans, the album showcased their organic approach to rock music with the acoustic guitar brought to the forefront and Slade's lyrics taking center stage. With each track the listener was introduced to a different side of the band, from the radio friendly "Lady Mystery," to the indie love song "Leaving Roses," to the style mash-up "The Backseat Melody." Two years later, Haley Jane released their widely anticipated follow up "Lightbulbs EP." The new disc contained four previously unreleased tracks, including the band's anthem "Lightbulbs to Ashes." In a bold move, the EP was totally void of acoustic guitar giving audiences a taste of Haley Jane plugged in and turned up. The band has been touring heavily to promote the EP and is looking forward to getting back into the studio.

Hellven

Hellven consists of Dave Terry, Dutch Rosenberg, Roadkill, and Clifford Shorb. They have been playing together for some time, releasing Realm of the Lost Souls [2001], and Born into Brutality [2004], with a new release slotted for January 2008. Look for it.

The band has appeared on 98KUPD’s “Local 98 Rock” and “Into the Pit” segments with Marcus Meng. They are also on regular rotation on the internet stations “Running Amuk in America,” and Monsoon Radio.

Hellven has had the privelege of playing countless venues around the Southwest, including Las Vegas, San Diego, and all over their home state of Arizona.

Hour of the Wolf

Hour of the Wolf is a mutant born of the high desert that has been slowly growing over the past three years, feeding on cactus, roots, and the occasional infant. Located in Prescott, Arizona the band has established itself in the region by playing locally and making trips to the Phoenix area, self-releasing demos, and training to become a hard, fast, rock and roll machine. Beginning the first week of April 2006, HOTW will be recording an 8-song E.P., entitled “Power of the Wolf”, to be released at the beginning of May 2006 on Limekiln Records. As well, they will be self-releasing a split seven-inch with All Fired Up, a tenacious band of local outlaws. In support of these two releases HOTW will be hitting the road, with help from Radio City Booking, May through August 2006, hoping to stir the bowels of America like a bowl of hot chili and a handful of laxatives.

Although the band has been actively playing, until the past year, the Wolf has not been able to grow into the beast it has envisioned. Over the last five years, four of the five members in the current line-up played in Life in Pictures, a hardcore band they started in high school, played hundreds of shows in the southwest, released an EP on Limekiln records (2003) and a full length record on Clockwork recordings (2005), and embarked on two US tours as well as many west coast adventures. Through this experience and the recent break-up of LIP, they have realized their drive to be career musicians and are truckin’ full steam ahead with Hour of the Wolf.

The Human Condition

It is rare that you come across a band that possesses that raw metal edge with soul invoking melodies. The Human Condition has sculptured a nihilistic attitude that defies and questions the foundations of every ideal sensibility. Their upcoming release "From the Cell" explores the cause and effects of unscrupulous ideologies with a very intimate and elusive lament for hope. From the shackled enslavement we all face in our daily jobs in ”Golden Handcuffs” to the no-holds-barred – don’t-look-back mad dash for freedom in “Escaping”, THC relentlessly hammers at mankind’s own introspective nature. Listening to the songs as a whole is like being confronted by an onslaught of our own making. The songs give a voice to our conscience and demand an honest reckoning with our beliefs and actions.

THC was formed in 2000 when Sacred Reich lead guitarist Wiley Arnett, Saint Madness vocalist Patrick Flannery, Bludgeon bassist Scott Twitty, and drummer Brian “Muley” Webb began to build a local scene presence. In 2003 THC released a self titled 4 track demo. In 2004 Patrick Flannery left THC and Ryan Chester “Ry” became the new lead vocalist, solidifying the THC line-up. In early 2006 THC released a six song demo called "The Means" which received positive reviews. However, the band was not satisfied with their sound and went back to the drawing board. The result is an eight month recording session with a full ten song release entitled "From the Cell" which captures the bands musicianship, identity and highlights the strength of their compositions.

Upon stepping into the daily world of THC, you’ll find the members constantly laughing and sarcastically analyzing anything that crosses their path. They seem to enjoy engaging in wild philosophical charades or to mercilessly ridicule each in a battle of wit. But when the instruments are on and a song begins it’s all about pushing the music envelop. When the song is over, you’ll immediately see the laughter and the ridicule seep back in while they critique their own performance… until the next song begins.

Juicy Newt

Juicy Newt is an entirely female rock trio from Tempe, Arizona. The band was born in 2003 in the midst of boredom and aspirations of world domination through rock and roll. Not the evil, oppressive, tyrannical type of domination; more the color-coordinated, adored-by-the-masses, cheap-booze-for-all, free-lovin’ kind of domination. While Annamarie Sanchez (Guitar/Lead Vocals), Brenda Perkins (Bass/Vocals) and Sarah Bingham (Drums) were all musically trained in other realms and great lovers of all music not one of them had previous experience with their chosen instrument for this particular project. Undaunted, they proceeded to rock out with a “just do whatever sounds cool” philosophy. From day one they were making their own music… well, it was actually just noise at first but it quickly evolved in to a collection of aurally pleasing mosaics of sound. It took the better part of a year for the ladies to put together a sufficient number of happy, danceable, sing along type ditties about having one’s heart ripped out and repeatedly stomped on to comprise a set worthy of an audience. Mello Mello

Creating a unique sound they say you can be "grown and sexy to, or young, hip and still maturing" to enjoy, the duo on their debut album tells An Abstract Love Story destined to touch hearts and minds everywhere. They were each experiencing their own up and down issues with romantic relationships while they were writing and recording the album; this leads to some deep, refreshing honesty that everyone can relate to as they sing and rap along with the fresh beats and melodies. Fifteen of the sixteen tracks on An Abstract Love Story (which features 13 songs and three interludes) were produced by Raycean, one of the city's hottest R&B/Hip-Hop producers whose sound blends the shape of Kanye West and the energy of Swizz Beatz.

Before Xtravagentways met Reddy, when the two were working in telemarketing for MCI in 2003, he was performing and recording with the popular five man local hip-hop group Phat Richard. A "military brat" born in Georgia, he moved to Arizona as a teenager and got his first turntable and mic while growing up in Sierra Vista. Xtravagentways was a big fan of D'Angelo, Erykah Badu and Musiq Soulchild and was looking to move in a more mellow direction, away from "the sky is falling" vibe of his band.

Reddy, a Long Beach, California native who grew up singing in church and moved to Phoenix in his teens, had been singing in a group called Blaq Kaddy when he and Xtravagant hooked up. The singer and his musical partner Bobkatt did some early recordings using Xtravagentways' Yamaha RS7000 drum machine; while nothing came of those sessions commercially, it was clear from the start that Reddy and Xtravagentways had an exciting musical chemistry and a mutual love for neo-soul that would grow into something bigger and more Mello Mello than they could have imagined.

Xtravagentways adds, "What's most comfortable and natural for us is describing how we feel towards a woman. With me, it's about communicating in a different way and expressing myself without getting too mushy. We like to get inside a person's mind and get them to see where we're coming from. The way I deliver my rap parts is designed to make people think. On the surface, it seems easy to follow, but then it goes deeper. The cool thing about Mello Mello is that both musically and lyrically, we're not limiting ourselves to one audience. Grown folks and kids alike can find joy in the conversation we're having with them."

Before forming Mello Mello, both Reddy and Xtravagentways performed at some of Phoenix's best-known venues. Reddy has sung at the Celebrity Theatre, The Venue in Scottsdale and The Marquee Theatre. Xtravagentways played everywhere with Phat Richard and also did a solo gig at the intimate Hollywood Alley in Tempe. As a duo, they have so far lit up crowds at Famous Sam's, The Loft and Party's. Now that An Abstract Love Story is out there, Mello Mello is ready to roll beyond the desert and groove people everywhere.

"We're trying to create a spark and then an explosion of neo-soul music here, and then take it to the bigger cities as more people get to know us," says Reddy. "We don't care about being superduperstars, but we'd love to be known for making music that feels good and has integrity. We want people everywhere around the world to hear Mello Mello and appreciate the results of the love and craft that goes into what we do. My favorite part of this is when that first note that comes out of my mouth captivates every woman in the audience. I want the guys to use it to play to their woman, but I want to have the eyes of every woman on me."

In line with his colorful stage name, Xtravagentways wants to take the whole experience to the extreme. "For us, making this music is who we are and it's so much fun. If we're able to have the freedom to do it all the time, the experience would only get better. I love performing and interacting with the crowd. Some artists stay in one place but we're all about exploding in people's faces. The music we make as Mello Mello is personal but we enjoy getting it up in someone's face and making them feel what we feel."

The Morning Kennedy Was SHot

Whatever is in the water in Arizona, it's probably recommended that all aspiring bands move down there and drink up, because it sure seems like the bands who come from the Grand Canyon State wind up being pretty well-liked.

Thanks to such bands as Jimmy Eat World and The Format (most notably), Arizona is becoming one of the top music scenes in the country. And for Mesa's The Morning Kennedy Was Shot, it should be no different.

Barely over a year old, this indie rock foursome writes dreamy ambient indie music that has rough-sounding gang vocals and lots of organ playing/keyboard loops, backed by jazz-like drumming and hollowed-sounding guitar.

The five tracks that make up the debut self-released EP, Pictures of Things Worth Looking At, are unique and soundtracks for a dream in a deep night's sleep. Slightly dancable, definitely intoxicating and imaginative, the 16-minute disc is just the first step into what will surely be a journey into transcendence. "The Desert" is a psychedelic roller-coaster trip, taking time to get into its trippy atmosphere. "Floating Down The River" is a relaxing soul-searching kind of song that actually would be better listened (and in turn, felt) while actually doing what the title implies.

Much like the artwork that accompanies the album, it's not going to be everybody's cup of tea, but for those who like artfully-minded indie rock that is not heavily produced or polished, this is a band looking to make minds move rather than moshpits. The Morning Kennedy Was Shot is a small group of guys that are worth hearing.

And as for whatever is in the Arizona water supply, go find out for yourself. You may just find yourself creating something that moves somebody.

North Side Kings

Arizona's North Side Kings formed in late 1999 out of disgust towards all the P. C. bullshit bands that were being lumped into what is called "hardcore." Through the years North Side Kings have made their presence known across the world with their no holds barred attitude and their blunt honesty. Often and easily offensive, this band carries no middle ground. They are either really despised or extremely well liked. But, whatever opinions run rapid, they are one of the most talked about hardcore bands today. This is real deal hardcore, straight forward and to the point. There is nothing poetic about NSK's lyrics, nor do they attempt to hide the fact that the music they play is "caveman friendly." NSK have released three full lengths and a split record with the U. K.'s Stampin Ground, all available on Thorp Records. Besides that, a cover of D.R.I.'s "I'd Rather Be Sleeping" on the Malt Soda Records Tribute album., tracks on Hard Working Music Volume 1 and 2, Hot Topic's Hard Working Music Comp, The War Music Comp from Stillborn and Thorp Records that was exclusive at the 2004 Hellfest, and a shit load more.

One Eye Open

One Eye Open has been an on again off again band since early 1996. OEO started out as a band called "Aloe" that consisted of Rage - Guitar, Ben - Bass, Alexis - Flute, JJ - Keyboards, Tara - Lead Vocals, and Patricia - Backup Vocals. The band fell apart mainly because everyone was out of (or getting out of) high school and starting their lives in the real world. Soon after that Rage and Ben decided to form a Metal band. They went through various revamps in their metal endevor and decided to go back to there roots reforming as a classic rock band bringing back their friend and Flautist, Alexis, so they could work on there mellow sound. Tara was away at college so they decided to bring in Patricia for Lead Vocals since she knew the songs and was a close friend. The band started sounding very comercial and radio friendly but there lack of a solid rhythm section was holding them back. Ed Garcia then stepped up as their drummer around 2003. After practicing alot and writing enough material to fill a half hour set the band set out on getting gigs at local venues, their first being The Speak Easy. Soon after more shows began to be available, but due to irreconcilable differences with Patricia the band had to cancle shows and start looking for a new singer. After a short 3 month search and audition proccess the band found their current singer, Toni. It didn't take long for Toni to warm up to the band and fit in perfectly. And the rest is history....in the making that is.

Perfect Deception

In 1980, Elliott entered a band known as Surgical Steel. Elliott was attending Trevor Brown High School in Phoenix, Arizona when he was introduced to the band and percussion instruments. Elliott left because of controversy with the band members, he did not pick up another instrument untill 2000. In 1998, Travis began playing music in his middle school band, Vista Del Sur. He played the saxaphone. Through the years he progressed through instruments and in 2001, Travis began learning guitar from a local guitar player known as Bob Diaz. In 2002, Josh recieved a beginner drum set for Christmas. Josh slowly progressed with his techniques in the smallest room of the house, while never recieving a real drum lesson. Then in 2004, Josh recieved a lesson from Chip Ritter. After recieving lessons and gaining experience with previous bands, Elliott, Josh, and Travis decided to start and dedicate themselves to their own band. The trio began their adventure in 2004. Perfection Deception is greatly influenced by bands such as Godsmack, Metallica, Pantera and other rock bands known today. The goal of the band is to make a name for their selves. Their music has a basic concept of life experiences, mixed with their own sound. With years of experience under their belt, Perfect Deception has made their way around Arizona playing at locations such as: Famous Sams, Alice Coopers Town, The Big Fish Pub, The Clubhouse, The Brickhouse, Mardi Gras, Block Parties as well as other parties.

On March 25th 2006 Ph8 (fate) released their long awaited CD with a celebration that brought out thousands of their “phans”. Fortune Favors the Bold is Ph8’s second CD and is already selling even faster than the self-titled PH8, which has sold thousands of copies worldwide. While they have had their music on movie soundtracks and video games, it’s their high-energy live show that has gained Ph8 a reputation as the top choice among promoters for opening for major bands such as Linkin Park, Disturbed, Papa Roach, Anthrax, Static X, Saliva, and Sevendust.

Marcus Davis is a front man that effuses energy, inspiring his listeners to do the same. He is backed by “a thick, propulsive groove” shaped by Nando Rivas, Andy Pyle, and Michael Hummer. Playground Legends

With the upcoming release of their debut album, Playground Legends are becoming a major force in the Arizona modern rock scene. Featuring an upbeat, hard-hitting style combining the classic styles of Soundgarden and Alice in Chains with the modern edge of Fall Out Boy and Foo Fighters, they have quickly risen from the bars of Tempe to showcase the best venues the valley has to offer.

Playing with local legends Fred Green and hot up-and-coming groups Radiofix and Highwire Fiction, they are packing venues like Martini Ranch, The Brickhouse, and Last Exit. They are a favorite of the AZoverload radio show, and have been featured in the Arizona State Press and Phoenix New Times. Their demo has sold over 200 copies, and their debut album, to be released in August, will feature a mix of high energy hard rock and radio-friendly ballads.

The Legends officially formed in 2006 with guitarists Jimmy Hong and J.P. Coughlin, drummer Grant Allen and bassist Jesse Frazier. The group had a breakout with the addition of singer/songwriter Kevin Wilson in January 2007, and has been on the rise ever since.

The band plans to push for a very strong album release, with interviews planned for AZOverload.com, KWSS 106.7FM, and a feature on NBC Arizona Midday. Currently the band is looking for distribution channels for the album, and expanding its sphere of influence to San Diego, Los Angeles and Las Vegas.

It is an exciting time for the Legends and their fans, with the album release and their biggest shows ever on the calendar. With an explosive new beginning and solid plans for the future, the group is looking to finish strongly in 2007 and have a breakout year in 2008

Rising Conviction

Of all the bands you might see in a night at any given rock club, Rising Conviction will be the one you remember the next day. Their particular brand of alternative metal breaks the chugga-chugga doublekick monotany of modern metal with smart, upbeat hard rock with hints of dance-rock and progressive metal. It easily fits on show bills ranging in genre from metal and hard rock to punk.

Vocalist David Kranson is charisma incarnate; the big man in the center. He takes his role of frontman of Rising Conviction with eccentric growls and spasmatic approach that could be compared to such sing-speak vocalists as Spencer Moody of The Murder City Devils, Matthew Olyphant of Fetish, and Billy Idol. Bryan Hughes' innovative noise-based style of guitar is more about sounds than chords. He plays guitar with his throat and leaves the stage with bloody fingertips, channeling influences from Rage Against The Machine era Tom Morello to indie-rock soundscape masters mewithoutYou. The rhythm section's Floyd Orfield is a reminder that there's more than one way to play rock bass, functioning as a dual role of bass and rhythm guitar. Chord-driven bass lines show hints of influences including Tom Waits, Justin Chancellor of Tool, and Joe Lally of Fugazi. The foundation of it all is Andy LaFave's straight-forward brand of percussion maintains a high-energy delivery from all corners of the act. His style is the product of early metal artists such as Pantera's Vinnie Paul and Metallica's Lars Ulrich, torn down and rebuilt from indie-rock guts.

Rising Conviction began writing in late 2000, and performed for the first time in April of 2001. Since then they have performed several times a month at the most popular clubs in the Phoenix area, and built a fan base in the top range of Phoenix-market draw. In 2005 Rising Conviction released their first album, "Salazar Brothers" independently to a sold out crowd at downtown Phoenix' Brickhouse, and followed it up with the "Saving Sons" EP one year later.

The Sammus Theory

Imagine a musical style that blends present-day hard rock with classic rock elements into a unique, hard-hitting sound all its own. The Sammus Theory has done just that. Beginning in the small town of Idaho Falls in 2001 by front man and song-writer Sammus, The Sammus Theory was a diamond in the rough, which was soon to be polished. In 2004, Sammus moved to Phoenix, Arizona to extend the reach of The Sammus Theory to a bigger scene. Sitting low for ten months, Sammus began to hone in on the unique style of the music and started writing new material. In January of 2005, the project was signed to independent label OCI Records of Phoenix, Arizona.

Now releasing a second full-length album on May 1st, 2007, performing on Last Call with Carson Daly in Late May of 2007, and preparing for a tour of the western states in May and June, The Sammus Theory raises the bar for hard rock.

Sectas

Sectas is a Rock power trio of very dedicated musicians from Phoenix, Arizona. The current lineup consists of Christian Lee (guitar & vocals), Runaway (bass) and Brian (drums). Their influences include bands like Megadeth, Alice In Chains, and Dream Theater. They combine styles as varied as Pop, Punk, Hard Rock, Heavy Metal, Jazz and Blues to create an original sound that is heavy and full of dense overtones. The dark, passionate vocals and searing guitar solos are complemented by a solid backbone provided by the rhythm section.

In 2005 the band recorded a five song EP called "From The Ashes" at the prestigious Salt Mine studios in Mesa, AZ. It was extremely well received both by fans and critics alike. The band continues to play to growing audiences both in their home state as well as other states like California

Current supporters of the band include Candyspiteful Productions and the Eastside Mansion studio in Tempe, AZ, where the band has recorded their best work to date, a full length album titled "Voices Of The Damaged". The band is working heavily on promoting this new record, which will be available both through record stores and via the Internet very soon. The band is currently focused on expanding their core audience throughout the country through live shows, as well as composing new material for their next release, scheduled for 2008.
