Be a Part of the Bigger Picture

The Big Picture - 2004
Hey Phoenix, Tucson, Flagstaff, everywhere Arizona!
AZoverload.com is inviting you to take part of an awesome project that will help unite our music scene. Read a bit about it below, copied directly from The Bigger Picture's myspace page. We will be talking about it on our weekly podcasts and inviting you personally to come hang out at this year's event and make history with us:
Are you a part of The Bigger Picture?
As musicians we've looked around the Phoenix Music Scene for years and asked ourselves; With so much potential and talent how come our music scene isn't as vibrant and successful as it should be? At the same time, we sat idly by as live music venue after live music venue closed their doors; Long Wongs, Nita’s Hideaway, Emerald Lounge, Gibsons, Bostons, Ziggy's, to name just a few. And we wonder why.
Why isn't there any interest? Why doesn't anyone come out? Why does it have to suck so bad?
Everyone can offer creative and colorful reasons, excuses and justifications for why our scene got to and remains the way it is but few bother to offer any kind of hope or direction for change. Those that have tried in the past have only been met with indifference and apathy and their endeavors ultimately have failed. We as musicians, club owners, promoters and fans have collectively admitted through our own inaction and complacency that the Phoenix music scene really does suck, that the trash talk from other towns and cities about us is the truth and we don't have enough self-respect or pride to care.
It is time we stop our complaining from the sidelines and came down into the ring and put up some kind fight for our scene. It is time we stood up for one another, supported one another and created something long lasting. This is our town and locals come first. Regardless of genre or style we need to start looking past our egos and our differences and begin coming together, all of us, to display a united front. Make no mistake, it is Us; bands, friends, fans, owners, Phoenix versus...
If we don't care about our scene, if we don't do something to change it for the better, if we don't have pride in being a part of it then absolutely no one else will.
We're not asking anyone to 'do' anything...yet. All we're asking from you right now is to let go of the short sighted view and look at a greater vision. All we are asking right now is that all of us look at the Bigger Picture.
This years date is still tentative, but we're looking at November. Keep checking back, and we'll let you know.
